Pre-Surgery
- All patients will be asked to lose some weight before surgery. This helps to reduce the size of the liver, which assists in allowing a smooth procedure. A pre-operative diet will be provided to the patient at their initial surgical consultation. The amount of weight the patient will be required to lose is typically determined by the surgeon at the time of the initial consult. In addition, a patient’s insurance company may require a specific amount of weight loss prior to surgery.
- A pre-operative educational class must be completed as part of the pre-surgery appointments.
- Seven days prior to surgery – No aspirin, ibuprofen, Motrin, or Advil products. Tylenol is acceptable.
- A pre-assessment appointment will be completed over the phone a couple of days prior to surgery.
- Midnight before surgery – nothing to eat or drink.
- If you are a self pay patient, complete payment is due to the surgeons' office and hospital two weeks prior to the surgery.
