  Post-Surgery

  • During the post surgery stage a registered nurse will monitor your post-surgical recovery and vital signs. You will be administered medications for pain and nausea. The nurse or aide will work with you on breathing exercises and assist you in getting up out of bed and walking the first time after surgery.

  • Patients will not be capable of driving themselves home after surgery due to the sedative effects of pain medications.

  • Patients with diabetes must schedule one week follow up appointment with an endocrinologist or their primary care physician.

  • Patients must schedule a four week follow up with OWLS and a dietician. Laparoscopic adjustable banding patients will be required to have a barium swallow x-ray.
